Dear parents,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Bounty Boulevard State School. Our Moral Purpose is:
“Our Bounty Boulevard State School community encourages and empowers creative and critical thinkers, who are engaged learners within an inclusive and respectful environment."
There were five key areas of the moral purpose that were focused on and discussed to define the intended meaning of these key words.
Encourage and empowers – this means students will be supported in their learning and be enabled to take responsibility for their education.
Creative and critical thinkers – the world is becoming more complex all the time. This requires people that are capable to evaluate information and situations, to find new ways of solving problems.
Engaged learners – high levels of participation, interest, and curiosity are demonstrated while being taught.
Inclusive – No matter someone's learning ability, culture, beliefs or how they identify with the world there is always opportunities for everyone in the BBSS community to participate.
Respectful – Respect is important as it makes people feel safe to express themselves and participate. This is also acknowledgement to the BBSS 4 Respects: respect for learning, respect for self, respect for others and respect for property and environment.
As part of this Moral Purpose one of the key concepts is partnership. We need your help to ensure we can provide the highest quality education and this involves ensuring your child attends school on a daily basis unless unwell.
We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. This is a whole-school framework that promotes positive behaviour across a school and helps schools develop safe and supportive learning environments.
The PBL framework makes sure all students are explicitly taught the expected behaviours and establish clear and consistent boundaries. Staff take a proactive, preventative approach to ensure all students receive the appropriate level of support to help them to be successful at school. Student outcomes are monitored so identified students can receive additional support when needed, and a minority of students can access intensive support to enable them to engage successfully at school.
If we get attendance (A) at 95% or above, and behaviour is taught and monitored according to our policies (B) then we can deliver a quality Australian Curriculum (C). Simply put A+ B will then = C.
Education is a partnership, please work with us in a respectful way to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for your student/s.
