What is the P&C Association?
A Parents and Citizens' Association (P&C) is a group of community minded people, parents and citizens, who take on a more formal role to assist the school in providing:
- feedback on school policies and activities
- additional resources to be used to enhance student learning
- parents with opportunities to be involved in their child's education.
Role
of the P&C Association
The
principal is the site manager and the Minister's representative. The P&C
Association is there to work with the principal and the school community in a
productive partnership to achieve the best possible outcomes for students. It
is not the role of the P&C Association to interfere in the daily running of
the school, which is the role of the principal.
Functions of the P&C Association
- To foster community interest in educational matters.
- To encourage closer cooperation between the parents of students attending the school, other members of the community, staff and students of the school.
- To provide advice and recommendations to the principal of the school on issues and concerns in respect of students and the general operation and management of the school.
- To provide or assist in the provision of financial or other resources or services for the benefit of students of the school.
- To perform any other functions, not inconsistent with the Act, as the Minister may decide.
Over the last few years, the P&C has provided:
- Running of the Bounty Bite Café (this is the main source of fundraising revenue and coordinates fundraising or free events in conjunction with the school throughout the year)
- Social activities and fundraising events such as movie night and school disco
- Mothers Day stalls
- The undercover pickup area on Aurora Boulevard
- Sausage sizzles on carnival days
- End of year gifts for Year 6 graduation
- Funding for programs initiated by student groups
- Contribution to the Defence garden
P & C Meetings
The P & C meets on the second Tuesday of each month online from 6:30 - 7:30pm. These meetings provide an opportunity to meet other parents, hear school updates directly from the Principal and leadership team, ask questions and provide input into new programs and policies as they arise. There can also be guest visits by local members of government, presentations from suppliers and members of our school or broader community. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend P&C meetings.
The following parents were elected to the P&C Executive for 2024:
President – Jason Burton
Vice President – Tim Greenwood
Secretary – Amanda Kusters
Treasurer – Rebecca Palmer
