At Bounty Boulevard State School, the Performing Arts is strongly represented across the school. All students from Prep to Year 6 receive classroom music lessons each week with a specialist music teacher. Students from Years 2-6 also have extra opportunities to participate in various choral and instrumental music ensembles.
Our Choral Programme consists of four choirs including The Tiny Trebles (Year 2), The Bounty Singers (Year 3), The Bounty Voices, (Year 4-6) and the Bounty Harmonies (Year 5 to 6 auditioned small vocal ensemble). In 2021, The Bounty Harmonies received a Platinum Award for their performance in Choral Fanfare and then went on to be awarded 'Best Performing Choir' at the North Coast Regional Finals. The Bounty Voices and The Bounty Singers were both awarded Silver Awards for their performances at Choral Fanfare.
Our Instrumental Music Programme continues to thrive with students having the opportunity to enrol in strings (from Year 3) and multi-instrumental (from Year 4) music lessons. Students who participate in these programmes also attend weekly ensemble rehearsals. We currently have three Bounty String Ensembles and two Bounty Concert Bands which cater for the various levels and abilities of the participating students. Our school also has a recorder ensemble, the Bounty Pied Pipers for students who wish to join in Years 5 and 6.
Each term, all students involved in our choral and instrumental Music Ensembles perform in a Performing Arts Showcase or an End of Semester Concert for their friends and family. There are also other opportunities for our ensembles to perform throughout the year including at school assemblies, in competitions and other community performances.
Students also have the chance to participate in 'Creative Generation State Schools on Stage' as part of the massed choir, which showcases the most talented state school students from around Queensland. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to be part of a professionally produced arena spectacular, involving around 1500 students from across the state.
Each year, students have the opportunity to showcase their talents in our 'Bounty's Got Talent' contest where they can demonstrate their skills in a range of areas from singing and dancing to martial arts and comedy acts. Students perform their acts in class and cohort heats to advance to the final where they can perform for the entire school!!
Music and drama have been an important part of our curriculum with previous Drama Club performances including Oliver, Annie, Seussical, Grease, The Sound of Music, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins.
