Non-Marking Shoes for New Hall

18/01/2018

In 2018, we are privileged to open and have access to our new school hall. Staff at the school have just completed an in-service for use of the Hall. To preserve the quality of the floor and the longevity of this wonderful resource, certain shoes can only be worn for sport within the Hall.

For this reason, non-marking shoes can only be worn when students are participating in PE or being active within the hall. This will not be the case if there is a School assembly. Normal shoes can be worn.

Some black shoes are marking shoes and we are asking that these are not worn for PE days within the Hall or if your child will be using the hall frequently (Helping Hands). Non-marking are shoes that can be black (this is sometimes labelled on the sole of the shoe), but mostly have clear or white soles. Also, shoes such as stilettos can not be worn.

We understand that parents and carers may have invested in shoes already that may potentially mark the floor. For this reason, we will do our best to inform the students if their shoes are marking the surface of the Hall. For PE lessons, once students are aware of when these lessons are being conducted, we invite students to wear sports shoes. Our PE staff will also be informing students if they have lessons in the Hall prior to these occurring. Sport shoes are to only be worn on PE days. We ask the students adhere to the school dress code and wear black shoes with their formal school uniform on non-PE days.

We thank you for supporting us with this new process within our school and your cooperation in ensuring we are respectful to this new facility within the school.
