From the Sports Desk

25/01/2017
With the 2017 school year well underway, the Physical Education staff would like to bring a few important issues to the community’s attention regarding sport and Physical Education lessons.

Physical Education Attire:

Please ensure that your child comes well-prepared for their Physical Education lessons.  We require that students attend lessons wearing a clearly labelled wide-brimmed hat along with having a clearly labelled water bottle. Where possible, students should also wear the school’s sports uniform and comfortable footwear appropriate for running.

Get Started Vouchers:

If you are looking at having your child participate in a club sport this coming season, the Queensland Government have an initiative called ‘Get Started Vouchers’, which have been developed to financially assist families in getting their child into club sport.  If you would like further information regarding ‘Get Started Vouchers’, please visit:

Amart Sports Community Kickbacks Program:

Our school is a member of the ‘Amart Sports Community Kickbacks Program’.  If you would like more information regarding how your family can participate, please visit:

District Sports and School Calendar:

In 2017, students born in 2007, 2006 and 2005, will have the opportunity to attend Pine Rivers district trials in various sports.  Please access our school’s calendar for the dates of these trials.  Closer to each sport’s trial date, a member of the Physical Education staff will add a reminder to our school’s website.  If you would like your child to attend a district trial, they are to collect the relevant paperwork from either Mr Baker, Mr Millers or Mr O’Brien.  The Physical Education office is located in the administration building.  Please be aware that if we have more than 3 students interested in attending a district trial, we will conduct a trial at school to select our final 3 students.

District Swimming Carnival:

The 10-12 years Pine Rivers Swimming Carnival will take place on Wednesday, 15 February, 2017.  If your child has not yet received a nomination form, please have them collect one from the Physical Education staff.  These nominations will be due back by Wednesday, 8 February 2017.

If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours in sport,

Matt Baker, Corey Millers and Kurt O’Brien
