Closure of O Block and New Waiting Areas Before School

28/05/2018
Parents and carers, with the one side of O Block having being completed with 4 brand new classrooms, it is time for the other side to be built. This will result in a loss of the O Block Undercover area at our school.

In the mornings before school, this area is used for our Years 5&6 students to wait before school. Due to this change, students from Years 5&6 will now remain in the Senior Years Undercover Area and students from Years 3&4 will now transition into the Junior Years Undercover Area. This is the covered area next to the school playground.

Students from Years 3-6 will be able to access the Hall as an alternative playspace at first break and furthermore, our lunchtime clubs for Years 3-6 will be moved to second break.

A Note about Playing Before and After School:

Parents and carers are reminded that students are not to be playing games before school. As a staff, we acknowledge that students who may not be in the designated waiting areas are waiting under the supervision of parents and carers. We invite our parents and carers to work with our staff to ensure that we are providing a safe and supportive learning environment for our students and not allowing students to be playing games before and after school.

These games may appear to be innocent, however, as a school we are required to provide a consistent message to all of our students that games can only be played and supervised at our designated times throughout the day (lunchtimes) where we are able to provide adequate supervision and behaviour management of the students. By having our parents and carers supporting this message, it enables us to ensure that students are safe.

Students who enter school grounds in the morning become the responsibility of the staff at Bounty Boulevard State School. Furthermore, if these students were to be playing, it is our duty of care to provide supervision for the students which is something that we are unable to resource before and after school. For students who start school late (3-6) and finish school early (P-2), it is important that instructional lessons have begun in the school and by adhering to these rules it is supportive of our Bounty learners as lessons continue in the classroom.

Please remind your child that games before and after school are not to be played on school grounds. Students who are waiting with their parents must be in direct supervision of the parent and not be accessing any play equipment or playing any games. By following this directive, we are doing our best to ensure that Bounty Boulevard State School is a safe and supportive learning environment for all.

If you are seeking any further information about this, please do not hesitate in contacting the school Administration Team.
