Before and After School Waiting Areas and Information

18/01/2018
Parents and Carers,

As you know, in 2018, the times for the school have been flipped from 2017. Prep - Year 2 now commence school at 8:35am and finish at 2:45pm. Years 3-6 commence school from 8:50am and finish school at 3:00pm.

A general reminder that students are not allowed to be playing games or use the play equipment before or after school. Even if they are supervised by their parents or carers. This is for the safety of all students within the school.

The Prep Undercover Area is now known as the Early Years Undercover Area. The Early Years Undercover Area is now known as the Junior Years Undercover Area. The Middle Years Undercover Area (Stage) is now known as the Senior Years Undercover Area.

The information below will be broken into these separate areas so that you know what will be occurring throughout the school this year. Our waiting areas now have new names too.

Prep - School commences at 8:35am. Students who arrive at school in Prep from 8:00 - 8:20 will wait in the Senior Years Undercover Area. A staff member will walk these students together (along with Year 1 and 2 students) up to the Early Years Undercover Area where the students can wait until the bell goes at 8:35am. Students are not allowed to run around and must stay seated with an adult or on older sibling. Students will then walk to their classroom at 8:35am and will be supported by a staff member on duty.

School finishes at 2:45pm. Students can be collected from their classroom. Any student remaining after 3:00 or students waiting for an older sibling to pick them up will be then supervised in a waiting area where the bubblers are, close to the main Prep entrance. Any children remaining after 3:15pm will then be taken to the school office. Siblings from the older years will be directed to come and pick up their brother or sister from the Prep area once school finishes for them at 3:00pm.

Year 1 and 2 - School commences at 8:35am. Students who arrive at school in Years 1&2 from 8:00 - 8:20 will wait in the Senior Years Undercover Area. A staff member will walk these students together (along with the Prep students) up to the Early Years Undercover Area where the students can wait until the bell goes at 8:35am. Students are not allowed to run around and must stay seated with an adult or on older sibling. Students will then walk to their classroom at 8:35am.

School finishes at 2:45pm. Students can be collected from the classroom. Students who have not yet been collected from the classroom will then be walked to the Junior Years Undercover Area and supervised by a staff member until 3:15pm. Year 1 and 2 students can be collected at this area by parents and older siblings. Students who have not been collected by 3:15pm will then be taken up to the school office.

Year 3 - 6 - School commences at 8:50am. Students who arrive at school between 8:00am - 8:50am must wait in the Senior Years Undercover Area. Students who have younger brothers or sisters can wait with their younger siblings until 8:35am and must then go straight to the Senior Years Undercover Area. Students wait until 8:50am and can then go to class. Students are not allowed to run around and must stay seated. Students who ride their bike or scooter to school must lock their bike or scooter up promptly and move straight to the Senior Years Undercover Area.

School finishes at 3:00pm. Students who have younger siblings and have been given the responsibility of picking up a younger brother or sister can go to the pick-up areas (Prep Area or Junior Years Undercover Area) to meet them. Students who are leaving the school must do so safely and promptly after the 3:00 bell.

Students who are being picked up in a car can only be picked up in a car at the school drop-off zone located on Bounty Boulevard. The Aurora Boulevard bus and loading zone must not be used. Parents and Carers are reminded that they must not park in the loading bays at the front of the school and ensure they do not enter the staff parking zones within the school.

This year, our school will have over 1400 students. We thank parents and carers for their anticipated cooperation as we provide a safe and supportive environment for your children. We ask that parents and carers respect the rules and expectations that we have in place. Do your part in supporting our staff to ensure that children are at school on time, are appropriately supervised before and after school and that we look out for one another during these hectic times of the day.
