Announcement from the Principal

Dear Parents

There are severe weather warnings current for areas in the north of our region. The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts show this system tracking toward us, with the main influence being felt on Thursday and Friday this week. Significant rainfall and consequent flooding, along with significant wind is expected.

Current planning includes potential school closures, and Bounty Boulevard State School may be impacted.

When similar weather systems have hit this area we have experienced significant flooding in surrounding areas, and buses were impacted along with transport corridor closures. Parents, teachers and students were flooded in and many were unable to return home until well after dark.

Please discuss family responses and options leading into the next two days to ensure the safety of your family.

Please do not drive through floodwater or swift flowing water, and do not put your life and that of others at risk. No one can predict what lies underneath the surface. Remember: If it’s flooded, forget it.

I will communicate further updates tomorrow via Facebook, SMS and email.

Regards, Paul McSwiney - Principal
